Tella Thera is a brand-new five-star boutique hotel located in Kissamos, Western Crete. With panoramic views of the Cretan Sea and surrounding olive groves, it offers a hospitality experience that flows in harmony with the natural landscape. Sustainability is at the heart of its philosophy, from construction to daily operations, creating a space where guests can reconnect with nature and local culture in an authentic, effortless way.
Architecture shaped by the land
One of the first things you notice at Tella Thera is its architecture. Designed with a bioclimatic approach, using natural materials, an amphitheatrical layout and planted rooftops, the hotel doesn’t impose on the land…it follows it! The buildings adapt to the terrain; surfaces “breathe” through native vegetation and solar systems, while every interior is filled with natural light.
Designed by Pieris.Architects, the architecture reflects the spirit of Future Primitivism, combining raw, organic forms with sustainable practices that respect the natural landscape. The result is a space that blends seamlessly into its environment. Its first awards, including Best New Small Hotel Design, speak to its excellence, but the real impact is in what guests feel from the moment they arrive.
Nature-inspired sleep
The 20 suites (starting at 140 m²) and the signature villa have been designed to offer total privacy, deep calm and a continuous connection with the landscape. With earthy tones, private plunge pools and unobstructed views of the Aegean, each space becomes your own personal retreat. At the heart of each suite is a COCO-MAT natural sleep system which is metal-free and made entirely from natural materials like natural latex, coconut fiber, seaweed and cactus. Here, the “sleep on nature” philosophy takes on its purest form.
A vision rooted in love for the Earth
Tella Thera is the creation of Loukas Tourkomanis and Chevon Low, a couple united by their love for nature, their respect for place and their belief in mindful hospitality. With roots in Greece and Singapore and backgrounds in forest conservation and hospitality, they chose Crete to bring a deeper vision to life; something more than a hotel. Together with a team of architects, artisans and farmers, they created a space that doesn’t just welcome guests, it grounds them.
